Waylon Forever -

Now her hair was jet black,
And her name was Codene,
Thought she was the cream of the Basin Street queens...

  1. Steve: This reminds me of an outdoor concert I attended that occurred about 40 miles from my hometown. It was called "48 Hours in Atoka" referring to Atoka,Oklahoma,(although it was actually in rural Atoka County) and was Labor Day Weekend 1974. The players included Willie, Waylon, Jerry Lee Lewis, Jerry Jeff Walker, Jessie Coulter and David Allan Coe (I believe a contingent from The Outlaws MC showed up),among others. Organized by some attorneys from Atoka, it surprised the community to say the least. I remember the county sheriff saying he would only allow this to happen because it was a "country music" festival not a rock concert. Of course, this turned out to be a way more racous crowd than any rock concert ever would have been. It was fun. Google it for some photos. By the way, hope to get to meet you when I pick up my bike.

  2. Nice. Saw Willie at Coachella Music Fest in '07, then this past summer at Red Rocks, probably not the same as it was back in '74. And, I saw Shooter Jennings a few years back, don't remember much, supposedly brought the band back to my bar and continued to black-out. Good times. I've mentioned it to Rich quite a few times, your bike is gonna look great when it's all said and done. Til then...
