Nice rack

Twisted up some more hex for a back fender rack while I've been waiting for everything to fall into place these past few weeks.

Got my powder-coating back this past Thursday from Gary at Blastek(Denver- Sandblasting) and Roger at Taint Paint(Co.Springs-Powdercoater). I had an issue with my last coating, but they both came through and hooked me up well this time around. My new seat from Daniel down at BitchN StitchN was a little off from what I expected, but again, he came through and made it right in the end(the seat looks damn good). People that stand behind their work, right or wrong, it's good business and I appreciate it. When it comes to my motorcycle, money isn't a big issue to me, as long as I get what I want and I'm satisfied in the end - I'll pay, cash.

Finally got all of my parts out to paint today, shouldn't take our painter long(Saturday at the latest). Chromed bottom tree and sissy bar should be back this week, as well my engine from Randall down at Deluxe here in Denver - cleaned and beefed up. Randall's the man.

Grasshopper -

It was a very long time ago, but, I believe my first encounter with Irish Rich went something like...

...except it was a wrench, not a broom.

Thought Rich might like this one.

Traveler -

Support for my gear... in the making.

Mountain Whiskey

Stranahan's Whiskey. Colorado made. The fools who produce this sweet shit write down what artist they were listening to during the bottling process. Good stuff, a little pricey, but worth a try for a mouthwash fan -

Finally got my engraving tools set up. Had some issues with my compressor, but figured them out. Here's my temporary work area in my garage, still needs some work, as well as a vise/table to work on - but it's up and running.

Excited to have everything working, I carved up this maltese cross real quick. Had to use the window frame as my table, so certain angles were a little tough. Just carved it, didn't use a flat graver or stippling tool on it for more detail and precision. I'm in business though, now if only I can find some time away from working on my chop to get some pieces done in the next few weeks...

Gonna try and get some points covers and smaller pieces done for BF3 -

Denver Chop Show - Love Thy Chopper 2011

July 16th, 2011, here in Denver - Love Thy Chopper.

In my opinion, the best Chopper show in the region. Each year this show gets better and better with guys coming from all over the U.S. to showcase their machines and party down.

This year will be the best yet with some extra tricks coming out of the bag. Sponsors, bands, beer, food, art, women, and choppers. Supposedly, Dice will be throwing a party the night before?? This will be a weekend full of shit to do for anyone who loves the Chopper scene. Especially if you haven't been to the Rockies before or if it has been awhile since you've been to Denver.

There's also some amazing riding all over the State of Colorado, and just minutes out of the city of Denver. So, if you have the time and are making the trip, make time for some riding - it's well worth an extra day or two. The Rockies are one of a kind, it would be a waste to travel and not experience the endless twisties, canyons, and passes that the mountains have to offer. You'll be looking at the mountains and peaks all weekend from the city, but there's nothing like getting into them on two wheels...

A friend of mine, Nick Pew, who's a talented tattoo artist here in Denver and a large part of this event as well as the Chopper scene here in the Mile High - drew this bad ass poster for the event.

My good friends at PBR joined in this year as well, what more could you ask for? Mmmmmmm....Beer.....

Plan a trip to Denver for the 15th-18th of July, ride your motorcycle, and get ready for a great weekend. More surprises are in the works to be added that weekend, so stay tuned and keep up with info at the Love Thy Chopper Blog(link on this page)...

ChopTraveling- Born Free Ride Home Video

From camping outside of Grand Canyon Park to Denver, it was a 700 mile day to finish the Born Free trip last summer. The weather started out great riding through the Park and stopping to view the Canyon, but got a little crazier as we came up on Monument Valley. If you've never been to the Grand Canyon or Monument Valley, they're indescribable, you have to be there to realize how jaw-dropping these spots really are.

As we got out of the park, heading NorthEast towards Monument Valley, the wind started picking up, a lot. Wind and sand were hitting us pretty damn hard for a good 300 miles. Towards the end of this video you can see flags waving in the background next to my chop - that's how windy it was, I didn't speed up the video or edit it at all. Sandstorms are great when you're wearing a wife-beater and blasting down the road at 90 mph...

Cranked it up to Moab in near record time and it felt like my ass was gonna fall apart by the time I got off my bike. No time to waste, we headed North to I-70. With 300+ miles left and what looked to be a storm ahead of us, we got back on the highway and hit the entrance to the Rockies as the sun went down.

This was the middle of June, but it was cold as hell riding through the Rockies and rolling over some of the passes. When I'm cold on the bike, I usually just keep speeding up to make the next stop come faster. So, that's what I did, cracked the throttle. Got to Georgetown, the first exit after passing through the Eisenhower Tunnel and about 45 miles from Denver, and I couldn't feel my hands. Stopped at a gas station and asked the clerk to get me a warm bucket of water, then sat and soaked my hands for a good 20 minutes before I got back on the bike.

I was so cold, it hurt, but that's just something that comes with long trips. You ride through so many different weather patterns and temperatures, but, there's nothing you can do about it but be prepared before leaving in the first place. This is one aspect of riding cross-country that makes it special compared to hopping in a car, setting your cruise and A/C, and reclining your seat. That shit is boring.

With everyone taking trips already and my bike in pieces, it pisses me off, but I'll make up for it come June.

We'll see you at Born Free 3, which should make for an even better trip this summer... I'm itchin.

- Get out on your bike this summer and enjoy the USA. Whatever event or reason, live it.

Sunday, May 1, 2011

This is a run I've been wanting to do for quite a while now. I planned on getting the bike done and hauling ass down to So Cal to join in on this, but, like always, shit is taking longer than I had expected. Can't rush the re-build, but damn if I'm not upset that I'm missing this.

If you're going, I hate you.... but have fun you sons-a-bitches.

Til next year -
